This is the tree that all the cars used to drive through and you see in all those pictures of in the 60's. It was blown over by a snowstorm one year and these are pictures of the shattered insides (which is coincidentially the same reason sequioas arent good for timber - their huge bulk and soft wood cause them to shatter and splinter when they hit the ground) Luckily NPS has decided not to put anymore roads through trees after belated realizing that the tree probably does need that extra support.
